Gravity wagons are also known as slant wagons. They are used to carry hundreds of bushels of grain from the field, and as the name implies, they then use slanted walls and gravity to empty the grain from the doors located near the bottom of the wagon. Whereas grain carts have an auger and are able to unload grain directly into a grain truck, gravity wagons typically must move the grain the wherever it will be stored long-term such as a grain bin. In the old days of farming, these types of wagons were often two-wheeled wooden carts that were pulled by the farmers or their livestock. In modern times, however, gravity wagons for sale are built from durable metals and are much more technologically advanced. They feature four wheels and are normally towed by tractors and harvesters.
Gravity wagons come in numerous sizes and have a wide range of carrying capacities from below 375 to above 750 bushels of grain. Side and rear walls often slope between 30 and 40 degrees for best emptying results. Other features are also available that can improve efficiency during the emptying process such as coated interior walls, small doors from which to take grain and crop samples, side extensions to increase carrying capacity, observational ladders and windows located on the front or side, tarp covers, dual compartments, and center dump chutes. At Equipment Anywhere, buyers may find new and used gravity wagons for sale from some of the leading manufacturers such as KillBros, Parker, Brent, J&M, Unverferth, E-Z Trail, and Demco, among others.
