Hitachi Launches New Full-Size and Ultrashort Tail-Swing Excavators

Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas (HCMA) unveiled four new full-size excavators and three ultrashort tail-swing excavators at Con-Expo 2023, showcasing enhanced operator environment and performance, dependable equipment with easy maintenance, and standard telematics solutions.

New Full-Size Excavators

The new full-size excavators range from 30,870 to 49,833 pounds in weight and are powered by Isuzu or Yanmar engines. The ZX130-7, weighing 30,870 pounds, is propelled by a 100-horsepower Isuzu engine and has a bucket breakout force of 23,380 pounds and a maximum dig depth of 19 feet 9 inches. The ZX160LC-7, with an operational weight of 39,463 pounds, has a bucket breakout force of 25,179 pounds and a maximum dig depth of 21 feet 4 inches. It is powered by a Yanmar engine of 132 horsepower.

The ZX190LC-7, weighing 43,652 pounds, can dig down to a depth of 23 feet 2 inches and has a 28,551-pound bucket breakout force because of its Yanmar engine, which generates 132 horsepower. It bridges the gap between the ZX160LC-7 and the ZX210LC-7, establishing a new size class for Hitachi.

The heaviest of the group, the ZX210LC-7, weighing 49,833 pounds, has a maximum dig depth of 21 feet 11 inches and a bucket breakout force of 35,520 pounds. It is powered by a 164-horsepower Isuzu engine that may be used for a variety of jobs, including demolition and earthmoving.

Enhanced Operator Comfort and Performance

HCMA has equipped the ZX130-7, ZX160LC-7, and ZX190LC-7 with HIOS IV hydraulic systems that boost fuel efficiency by minimizing hydraulic loss during operation and ensuring a snappy boom, arm, and bucket. The ZX210LC-7 is equipped with Hitachi’s most recent TRIAS III hydraulic system, which minimizes hydraulic losses while offering a quick response to all control inputs. The monitor can be used to change the attachment, arm, and swing priorities to match machine performance with the attachment.

The machines’ larger cabins include an 8-inch anti-glare display, LED lights, adjustable seats, and ergonomic pilot controls. Switches have been installed together on the right side for quick access to frequently used ones. The Aerial Angle peripheral vision camera system offers a 270-degree bird’s-eye view of the surroundings around the machine in addition to panoramic views from the operator’s seat. A rearview camera shows the region directly below the counterweight.

Dependable Equipment with Easy Maintenance

The machine’s anti-mud-compaction lower roller design on the undercarriage helps stop mud from getting in and harming the oil seals. Improved idler sealing is another feature of the upper and lower rollers. The machines also have bushings fitted in brackets at the boom end and boom foot, which strengthens the boom end and foot.

ConSite and ConSite Air come as standard on all models. While ConSite Air enables dealers to remotely diagnose problems and send software updates, ConSite is a telematics solution that tracks the operational status and maintenance requirements. Every time the key is turned on, the monitor shows the predetermined maintenance intervals. From the operator’s seat, it is convenient to check the levels of the engine’s coolant and oil. Another important feature is the ConSite OIL, a standard with the ZX210LC-7, that helps in keeping an eye on the engine and the hydraulic oil levels. This way you can learn about any issues before the fault codes of the machine go off. If you are working with other models, you can get a Hitachi dealer to install the system on it for you.
