Combines are a type of harvester that are primarily self-propelled and are used for a combination of agricultural tasks such as cutting or reaping, threshing, and cleaning or winnowing. New and used combines for sale have the basic function of separating the edible part of the plant that contains all of the nutrients from the stalk, chaff, or straw. The crop is able to be stored in the combine to be unloaded periodically or it can be continuously unloaded though an auger into a grain cart which drives next to the machine. The chaff remnants are typically spread behind the machine. Combines run on diesel fuel most of the time, and they can have various front-mounted heads depending on the crop they are being used to harvest. Row crop headers are used for corn and other inline crops, platform or draper headers are designed for wheat, and there are others made for harvesting soybeans, oats, barley, rice, flax, sorghum, canola, and other crops.
Newer combines for sale have been equipped with some advanced technologies to improve production and efficiency. These technologies are able to reduce the loss of grains, guide themselves using GPS data and sensors, and even automatically adjust to various conditions. Telematics systems allow communication of data between the machine and the home office, and remote monitoring allows the farmer to view the in-cab screen from a remote location as well. Some of the major manufacturers of combines for sale that may be found on Equipment Anywhere include John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Case IH, CLAAS, and Gleaner, among others.
