Square Balers

Square balers are a type of hay baler that create square bales of hay rather than the round bales made by round balers. The square balers that can be found on farms throughout the country and around the world have been around for about 100 years in one form or another. Although they did save some human labor, early square balers still required someone to bring the hay or straw to the baler for baling and then to hand tie the bale once it was created. Fully automatic square balers for sale were first manufactured in the 1940s. Square bales are typically easier to transport and stack than round bales, and often one person can complete the job as opposed to having to use additional machinery for feeding the bales.

There are some other types of equipment that are commonly used in conjunction with the square baler, those being bale racks, bale wagons, bale elevators, and bale throwers, to complete the process of transporting, lifting, moving, and storing the bales. Some manufacturers offer mini square balers which allow for even easier handling than normal, and other manufacturers produce balers that create larger bales to improve efficiency and save on both fuel and labor costs. Recent innovations and improvements also allow many newer square balers to work in all kinds of different crop conditions. At Equipment Anywhere, interested buyers may find new and used square balers for sale from some of the agricultural industry’s leading manufacturers such as Case IH, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Krone, Hesston, and CLAAS, among others.
