Liebherr Launches PR766 Dozer for American Market

Liebherr has recently introduced the PR766 model, a 60-ton dozer, for the American market. This new Generation 8 dozer is a smaller version of Liebherr’s largest dozer, the PR776, and is said to have many of the same capabilities. The manufacturer claims that it is the only hydrostatic drive dozer in its class and is multifunctional, and suitable for material handling and mining operations.

High Drive Running Gear

The PR766 dozer receives Liebherr’s High Drive running gear, which is specifically designed for mining. This feature is similar to the one found on the PR776, and it can help the dozer absorb shock and maintain traction on uneven terrain. Additionally, the final drive is elevated, which reduces wear on sprockets and bearing bushings while also shielding it from damage and debris.

Engine and Blades

The dozer is powered by a Liebherr 8-cylinder, 490-horsepower diesel engine. When paired with a variable hydrostatic drive, the engine speed stays constant within the most fuel-efficient range. The dozer also features a semi-U blade with a capacity of 17.8 cubic yards and a U blade with a capacity of 22 cubic yards.

Joystick and Display Panel

The cab of the PR766 has a single joystick that can be used for both driving and steering. A 9-inch display panel with centrally located controls provides access to operating modes, a reverse camera, important machine information, and other features. The safety lever is automatically set when the seat senses the operator’s presence.

Design Features

Liebherr claims that the rounded body corners, sloping sides, and panoramic glass increase storage space and visibility for the operator. The platform is designed to make it easy to access the ROPS and FOPS protected cab as well as service points and fluids. The cab can tilt, and a cleaning-friendly cooling fan is an option. The back has ground-level service stations.

Telematics System

The PR766 comes equipped with LiDAT, Liebherr’s telematics system. This system communicates danger signals and updates the technician and operator on the machine’s location as well as its fluid levels and current consumption statistics. An automatic alarm can be set up for high-priority notifications, such as when the dozer exits a defined zone or enters a critical operating state.

The PR766 dozer is an impressive addition to Liebherr’s range of construction equipment. With its High Drive running gear, powerful engine, and multifunctional capabilities, it is sure to be a popular choice among construction and mining professionals in the American market.
