Construction equipment manufacturer Case has launched the WX175E SR wheeled excavator, marking its return to the North American wheel excavator industry. The four-model E Series of wheeled excavators, created in partnership with Hyundai, were first released in December 2022 for the European market, and now the WX175E SR has been added to the range.
Short-Radius Design for Urban Use
The 22-ton WX175E SR features a short-radius design that makes it perfect for working on roadside projects where space is at a premium. According to Diego Butzke, product manager for Case Construction Equipment, job sites are getting smaller, transporting steel-tracked equipment to relatively short distances could be difficult, and steel tracks represent a significant portion of the lifetime owning and operating costs of any piece of heavy equipment. The short-radius design of the WX175E SR solves these difficulties, making it ideal for use in urban locations and road construction projects.
Power and Flexibility
The WX175E SR is propelled by a 173 horsepower (129 kilowatt) at 2,200 rpm engine and can reach a maximum speed of 22 mph (35.4 km/h). This piece of construction equipment also features engine auto-idling and shutdown features, which can reduce fuel consumption, noise, engine hours, and exhaust pollutants. The machine’s electronic reversible fan automatically works to cool down the power plant, and a self-cleaning mode keeps the engine compartment clean.
In-Cab Display and Attachment Controls
Operators of the WX175E SR can save personalized control setups for up to 20 attachments using the in-cab display. The machine offers smooth, accurate attachment control thanks to a load-sensing hydraulic system and proportionate auxiliary hydraulics. Customers can choose the optional Fine Swing control feature for increased precision and less material spillage, or the optional Power Boost feature for more power.
Key Elements
The WX175E SR includes a four-wheel hydrostatic drive capability, joystick steering, and a Ride Control feature that improves comfort and lessens bucket spillage. A Case Max Vision camera system provides the operator with a 360-degree view of the workplace, and the machine also features a weather warning system and intelligent moving object detection technologies for added safety.
Practical Features
Several practical features are included in the WX175E SR, such as an Auto-Brake function that enables the operator to resume work immediately after stopping the machine.
Conclusion
The WX175E SR is part of Case’s commitment to providing goods and services that address issues that arise on the jobsite in real life. Although still providing the high level of performance for which Case excavators are renowned, these wheeled excavators simplify transportation and save space on construction sites, making them an excellent resource for road builders, utilities, and public works departments.
