5 Of the World’s Biggest Dozers

Bulldozers are huge powerful machines that use a huge blade to push vast quantities of materials like sand, dirt and stones. There are three main categories of dozers available in the market namely track dozers, swamp dozers and wheel dozers.

The biggest dozers in the world have primarily been constructed for mining applications rather than construction work. Most of the biggest bulldozers in the world are owned by mining corporations as they are incredibly powerful in terms of torque, power, their material pushing capacity and their operating weight. Listed below are five of the world’s biggest dozers.

ACCO Super Dozer

This dozer has an operating weight of 183 tons with a 23 feet wide blade. The machine stands at 10 feet tall and 40 feet in length and its blade was the biggest thing ever manufactured by Caterpillar. Although it should be noted though that the blade was made from Caterpillar parts and not by Caterpillar. The machine was built in the 80s in northern Italy and was supposed to be shipped to Libya however it was never exported due to a trade embargo. It is unfortunate that the machine has never worked a single day and sits forgotten in a yard in Italy waiting for restoration.

Komatsu Super Dozer D575A-3SD

This is the world’s largest production dozer and the second-largest dozer in the world. This dozer weighs a whooping 153 tons and stands at 3.6 meter in height. This Komatsu super dozer features a 7.4m wide blade capable of pushing 90 cubic yards of materials. These bulldozers for sale are made for surface mining operations although some people also use it in quarrying and very rarely in construction.

Caterpillar D11T Dozer

This dozer has an operational weight of 124 metric tons and it is powered by a 3508 V8 diesel engine with a 770HP. This dozer is used to move huge amounts of dirt, stone and other materials for short distances and is also used commonly in quarries. The D11 T is also used often in large scale forestry and mining operations.

Caterpillar D10 Dozer

This Caterpillar dozer model has a 77-ton frame that is tougher than most others. Due to this the machine is perfect for digging through tough terrains. The machine is over 65 years old and was first launched in 1969 at conexpo. It was supposed to be more productive than the previous model D9 and did indeed just that by improving production by almost 50%. These dozers are used commonly in mining, quarrying and construction work that require substantial earthwork.

Caterpillar D9 Dozer

Caterpillar D9 hit the market in 1954 but while it is so old it is still used often for earthwork and contractors ask about it when they are looking for used bulldozers for sale. Compared to the other dozers on the list, the Caterpillar D9 weighs a lot less at 44 tons. The machine has a 5M blade and an engine with a horsepower of 474 HP.
