The team of a construction project is in charge of ensuring that the project turns out well and as per the customer’s ideation. In order to do that the project team needs to efficiently perform their respective tasks. The team should be responsible and alert from the planning phase of the project and carry out all necessary duties without error to ensure the success of the project.
The Planning Phase of a Construction Project
When the bids are closed and a contractor has been chosen to for the job, work for the construction project can actually begin. There should be a project team assembled as soon as a contractor is chosen. The construction work site should be evaluated and prepared by the project team before the work can start. The project teams often include an administrator of contracts, a Project Manager, a supervisor, a field engineer and a manager of health and safety.
The project team is in charge of conducting site surveys in the field while collaborating closely with contractors and subcontractors. The project team should also be able to identify or anticipate any environmental issues that could develop during the construction process by conducting site inspections. Another essential component of this process is soil testing, someone in the crew should visit the work site to test the soil.
All plans and designs need to be approved by city officials once you have all the information. Due to the need to hear and answer all concerns and perspectives, this process is typically quite long and drawn out. But without sorting out all these details you would not be able to move onto the procurement phase of the project and start looking for used construction equipment or materials for the project.
The Procurement Phase of a Construction Project
The project team should order and obtain the necessary supplies, tools, and labor for the project right away. Depending on the scale of the project, the resources at hand, and the agreed-upon start date, this stage of a construction project may either be more or less complicated and difficult.
The procurement divisions of a lot of big construction firms are independent. In such circumstances, it is typical for construction businesses to order personnel, tools, and supplies for a number of different projects at once. But when working on a smaller project, it might require a very different procedure.
Although a general contractor typically performs these tasks, there are certain situations when a subcontractor needs to be in charge of particular components. In order to ensure they have the resources necessary to complete their task, subcontractors may be required to hire their own personnel or get their own supplies.
